Savari - The Journey!

Ah, How beautiful is life around us! Even though this realization happens when you see the world around you in a positive way, to appreciate this, a trip with bike to the nature is necessary!!

Myself, Kaushi and Prateek set off to Horanadu, Shringeri andMangalore on Karizma and Thunderbird...

First of all, this is the inner most feeling which'll come out when you set off in Bike - There is lot more in life than what we see! Well, the title of this blog is derived from the movie - 'Savari' wherein the story of the movie revolves around the bike to learn what life is all about.

Above all, biking is sheer enjoyment!

After trip to Kanyakumari, this is the next long trip after almost 2 years on the bike.

Initial plan:

1) Friday Night ( 28th Oct ) :

======================

Bangalore ---- Tumkur ( Stay )

2) Saturday ( 29 th OCT ) : Start of the trip ! :

======================

Tumkur ---- Horanadu ------ Sringeri ---- Agumbe ------Sringeri

3) Sunday ( 30th Oct ) :

======================
Sringeri ----- Sirimane Falls ----- Surathkal ------- Mangalore

4) Monday ( 1 st Nov ) :

======================

Mangalore ---- Ullal Beach ------Mangalore ( Rest !! )

5 ) Tuesday ( 2nd Nov ) :

=======================

Mangalore ------- Kukke ------- Bangalore

And to our biggest surprise, above plan worked out well! (Except that we could not go to Agumbe for sunset)

After setting off to Horanadu, we had to break in between as mirrors of Karizma went for a toss in Arsikere. It took almost 1 hour to tighten the mirror (Infact the challenge was to find the right screw!). We reached Chikmagalur via Banavar. Better route to Horanadu is via Aldur - Balehonnur. After missing a turn, we took this road and came to know to that this road was better. And this 'missed' turn is what helped us or else we would have ended up in no-man's world with a

problem. This is when we realized - 'Whatever happens, it happens only for GOOD!' .

Here is when our thunderbird failed to start (In Aldur). Thanks to Manju - Bike mechanic in Aldur who helped us fix it. Entire wiring had gone for a toss. This needed lot of debugging skills and it took almost 4 hours. I was just thinking why don't we attach a 'eclipse' t

o the bike so that problems can be easily debugged!! (I know I've become a typical software engineer) and later I realized, I was speaking in same terms that this has to be 'debugged' and was asking Kaushik to

check with Bangalore based mechanic as to 'how to debug', 'what are the problematic areas' and so on...

Finally, after getting drenched in rain, we reached Horanadu by around 8 PM. We decided to stay there only as we were very late.

Sunday: 30th Oct:

There is a new road around the mountains which has been newly laid connecting Horanadu and Shringeri. Its about 60 km and it took almost 2 hours for us to reach Shringeri. And this was simply amazing!

And I dont know, for what reason, this was my fastest ride (was cruising at 80kmph even in ghats). Thanks to amazing road grip that Karizma has, really enjoyed the bending in Ghats!

Then after reaching Shringeri, visited temple and had breakfast and we left to Sirimane falls.

This was too good a falls to enjoy bathing! Had nice lemon juice near the falls and started off to Mangalore. Since we wanted to goto Surathkal, we had to reach Padubidri and then take a deviation. Went to 'Scam' store in Surathkal to purchase some shirts and all for lesser price.

One thing what we observed was, everywhere ppl used to see us like 'Aliens'! Either because of Kaushi's Pant or with the kind of bikes we took... ;-)

Then we reached Maya's house for a wonderful stay! Here is where we came across Anmol - Little butterfly who is so active, made me sweat with its all sort of activities. This is fully charged batter - 24x7! and Aditi - Silent Kid (Unlike Karate Kid ;-) ). Children love crafts and they become so creative with clay and all. It reminded our childhood days when we used to make bridge and all with sand in front of any house where construction was on... We became one among them and started playing with them!!

Had a very nice time there and started off to Subramanya from Mangalore. After about 60km from Mangalore, there is a deviation on to

right for Subramanya (Not via Gundya). This was in fact, most amazing road for Biking. It was simply stunning...There were lot of school kids waving us and reminded me of when I used to do that!! When Prateek had been on the same road last time, it was completely bumpy, bad road. But, when we checked with the local Jeep driver, he told its good. This is when we realized - A gut feeling from inside will always awaken and guides us - Do or Dont. For us, this was 'Do' and it turned out to be best!!

Much awaiting for Leh and Ladak trip :)
