India - God's its own country is truely a land of extremeties. On one hand, you have four out of top ten billioniors of the, you have rich diversified culture, second most populous (This means one of largest human resource basin), largest democracy... Infact, Indian democracy is one of world's leading potential democracy. But, if you look at the other end of Indian society, there are more than 25% of Indian population below poverty line (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/in.html). By visiting this site, you realize how much potential India has and how much it can grow!!! You might still be wondering, you'll find all these facts in some website or rather you might be knowing, then Why I'm writing this. There are couple of thoughts running thru my mind past a few days.
India's GDP was 6.7% last year. What GDP signifies? Gross domestic product or GDP tells us the market value of all the goods and services produced in the country. Indian market is basically a socio-capitalist market which is most commonly called as mixed economy. In a capitalist market, irrespective of the state of the citizens, goods are produced, those who can afford, they get the services/goods. In a lay man's language, to say, market produces medicines, those who can afford for that, they can buy. Even in emergency, those who'll survive are those who can afford for it. In contrast to Capitalistic society, Socialist economy largely depends on government running. Here govt takes the decision as to how the goods must be produced or how it must reach and all. It is assumed that govt know whats good for the citizens. For eg: Govt would provide subsidy to those who cannot afford for medicines in case of emergency.
India follows a mixed economy wherein govt along with private partnership would work together for the improvement. My idea is very simple. I just want to improve the existing process which I strongly feel that it works. As you all are aware, our Govt has lot of Govt run industries which can provide raw materials for any kind of work. Whenever a contract is assigned to a privately owned company, tender is bid for the amount including raw materials involved for the execution of the work. What I suggest is, since we have lot of Human capital, why dont the Govt itself supply the raw materials and tender is bid only for the human capital involved??? If this is the case, each and every road in India can be asphalted, each and every road'll be free from dirt/garbage. Since the cost involved in this process is less, more and more human capital can be used to improve the status of the country.
In 1950, 67.5% of Indian population were dependent on agriculture and in 1990, 64% of the Indian population are still dependent on agriculture. As a matter of fact, 18% of GDP is from agriculture. The output which we are supposed to achieve with 30% dependency, we are achieving with almost double the human resource capital involvement. This means that the thoughput is less. And for such a large dependency, the fact being that the other two primary sectors - Industrial and service sector didnt absorb much of the human resource during the whole industrialiazation process. We need to fine tune the process involved in each and every sector - We know that whenever the Govt is providing subsidy, it is not reaching the hands it is supposed to. Why dont the Govt take the initiative to create a Bank account in each individual name. This would enable Govt to directly deal with the citizens instead the major part of the subsidy reaching the officer's pocket or a desk draw. I feeling went much more stronger when I heard from one of my friend that Orissa govt has already taken this initiative and is on ramp.
What does modernization mean to India? I read in some book that Modernization to India means that adoption of new technologies. Does this all mean? One fact is that, India is acheiving modernization - Women are at par with Men in any of the position. Earlier, Women used to bound around the men and he used to go out and work. Now, India has a civilized society, wherein Women has her own dignity. But, we are definitely loosing the cultural values bound. Be it be a men or Women, We are definitely loosing values and I still wonder where are we heading towards? The simple reason being not knowing why we used to follow some of our traditions. Have we ever tried to explore why? No - We simply comment, all crap, all bullshit. A more civilized society always try to explore and learn from the past!!! Each and every tradition which our ancestors have gifted us, its of immense value and its our apt responsibility to carry it forward. Be it be a pooja which we perform on festivals or to the fact that we must not sleep heading towards north. How many have really tried to explore when our parents have told not to sleep heading northern direction? May be, they might not have the proper reason to support it, as young people of India, we must believe and try to explore why? Its because, there is haemoglobin content in our blood which in turn contains Iron. As you all know, the direction of earth's magnetic field is from north to south, this'll align all the iron content which'll affect the blood flow since our blood vessels are not straight. We can proudly say our society is more civilized whenever a girl and boy just being friends or being a brother and sister is not being commented with all crap bullshit things. We cant call ourselves as developed if this sort of maturity is not achieved. We cant call India as a modern country if this kind of Civilized society is not achieved. Just, I'm trying to create a sort of awareness.
Also, paying tax properly helps you to getter better roads, better electricity, better infrastructure etc. Please dont buy pirated things which'l largely impact India's economic growth. You might claim what is that you are gaining by paying the tax properly!!! Dont you see a large no of fly overs being constructed to improve the infrastructure? Before commenting, just try to be optimistic. It is you who can make a difference. Each individual has to be materialistic in Country's growth. Subsidy given to large number of poor farmers is dependent on the tax which you pay!!! just rethink before cheating the Govt!!! Beware, In turn you yourself get cheated.
In the above content, I've discussed on two ample factors which are bolster to India's growth. One is growth (improvement of GDP) and other is modernization.
I agree that eventhough, the above ideas may not be implemented as it is, it is always open for fine tuning. My little effort to spread an awareness of how great India is, how can we fine tune our process to improve our productivity ends here. Henceforth, its up to you to spread among the public if it is worthwhile to spread.
Thanks for the time you have spent to read this blog!!!
