This is the most recent trek of our troop.
This trek trail is in western ghats (near Sagar).
After all leftouts, we decided to go to this wonderful trek.
We boarded the train at bangalore to shimoga which started by around 11.
This train is the connecting train to a bus which starts from the railway station itself to Sagara.(dont miss this bus as this'll lead to lot of upset in the plan.
This bus actually connects to one more bus at sagara which is a direct bus to Bheemeshwara(Where the trek trail starts).
This time we had engaged a guide named Mahesh (Contact: 9448428344, e-mail: trekmahesh@yahoo.com)who is well versed in western ghats(especially Meghane..or any trek near sagara).
He is the president of an adventure club at sagara.
He'll take care of cooking, sleeping mats and all those camping stuff.
You can be assured of all the best services from his side.
He is a nice person who has his own restrictions while trekking which he'll imbibe to us. He'll give necessary guidelines (of what to do and what not to do) while trekking before the start of the trek.
We missed the bus and our plan was totally upset.
But this lead us to have a look at World famous Jog Falls.
Actually we started at sagara by aroung 8.30(Proposed departure was 7.30 direct bus).
We had taken a bus to Kargal, where we had to wait since there is no bus till 1 o'clock in the afternoon. We had reached Kargal by around 10.30.
Kargal is a place near Jog Falls(5 km). So, we planned to go to Jog.
We were blessed to have a wonderful look since the falls was milky, snowy (ah!! What can i describe).
We came back to kargal after watching Jog to take a bus to Bheemeshwara.
It was from here where we lent our legs to Leeches.
Bheemeshwara is around 3km. There is a wonderful Falls at Bheemeshwara.
From here, we started to KyadiGodu(Have a look at photos), where we had camped that night. We were fortunate enough to have our cook Umapathi to make sambar that night.
Then we started to Meghane next day Morning after having breakfast(Upma and Kesaribath) prepared by Umapathi.
It is the usual practice of Mahesh to make us to circle up before starting.
He gave necessary guidelines and we started to Meghane.
Its quite steep. Then after reaching Meghane, we started to Arkala where we had camped 2nd day.
Then next day morning we started to Basavanabayi.
Basavanabayi has a idol of bull from the mouth of which, there was water source.
Since we were little exhausted after 2 days of trekking, we found it little difficult. But, take my words, dont worry abt leeches, go to this trek in monsoon.
You'll enjoy both Bheemeshwara and Basavanbayi Falls.
After Basavanabayi falls, without having lunch, we started to catch the bus.
In between we were fortunate enough to have maggi prepared by Mahesh and Umapathi.
We caught a bus to Kargal which is at 5 (after coming down).
Finally, it was a fantastic trek and Mahesh was kind enough to book seats to bangalore. The bus(rajahamsa) leaves Sagara by 11 in night and 'll reach bangalore by around 7.
